Gone With the Humans

The Isle of Seili is located in the Turku archipelago, Finland. Part of a nature reserve, it is also partly conserved for its unique cultural heritage. The Band of Weeds presents three plants that have disappeared from the Isle of Seili due to human activity. These plants are: motherwort, corn gromwell and rugosa rose.

The Band of Weeds have made a sound piece “Gone With the Humans” in memory of these lost plants. The sound piece consists of the chirping of locusts on the Isle of Seili, the hum of the wind, and a pump organ played to an empty church. It was recorded in the summer 2020.
